View Full Version : Should I buy a CR?

I'm thinking about trading in my 07 XB12R for a 09 1125CR. I would instantly do a fender eliminator, paint it flat black and put on my CRG bar end mirrors.

But my question is, should I trade my proven reliable bike for a proven not so reliable bike? Everyone loves a new bike I know, but I'm trying to think of the long term investment.

My vote is to keep the bike you know works well. Nothing is going to anger you more than getting a brand new bike and having it give you all sorts of issues (especially if it becomes difficult to have warranty work done).

If it ain't broke....don't fix it.

is there anyway to lose that huuuuge scoop. Without the scoop and a lightning front id like it a lot more. Or maybe i just want a 145hp lightning.

If you like the bike id say go for it.

same gig dave, i'm torn. dealer by me has new '09 cr's & r's for $6495.00! with my xb9sx trade in i would only have to pay out around $2000.00 bux. my xb runs just fine and i'm happy with it, but it's just so tempting[smirk]

Get the CR, sell the 'bolt to someone we know!

YEah I would only like the 1225's with the full race fairings

DAve this one is hard to bite on! IMO keep the xb. The bolt has more aftermarket stuff and the rotax motor is so new that hardly any mechanics know how to work on them.

After sitting and staring at the CR you wanted for 2 hours yesterday, I decided I'd keep my Lightning. Next summer I'm paying my 1400 for 5 years of warranty instead of getting a brand new bike with 1400 dollars worth of headaches and then some.

Dave, I think you should. Just keep your XB also. Thats what I did and I love having both.
