Hi, I found out on Saturday what happened to Buell and I was shocked! I had been shopping for a used xb12x for awhile, but when I heard what happened I came home with an '09 xb12r for me, and an '09 xb12scg for my girlfriend that day. They were basically buy one get one free, so we couldnt say no.

I have a white and blue R, and she has a translucid blue and black SCG. We have already played around with swapping airbox covers on the bikes, but it doesnt look too good on my bike, since the whole bike is white, but the inner airbox is black.

So, here is my question: 1. has anyone done the translucid panel on their Firebolt? and 2. has anyone painted their inner airbox to match the rest of the bike before putting on the translucid panel?

Because, as it stands, that is my plan. I have a 10% discount at the dealer good until Friday, so I dont know if I will have the time to get it done and tried out before I go to order another airbox cover, and I want to get a feel for what it will look like.

If it isnt hot, I think I will probably still order the panel, and paint my white parts flat black. I really wish the dealer had a black and red firebolt, so I could just get the red translucid panel, and it would all match up.

TIA

there is a member with an airbrushed airbox lid and a trans cover looks sick. just search through members buell pics or users bikes.

Too late for that. I took of my inner airbox and trimmed it down and painted it white. I will take some pics this weekend, with and without her translucid panel on it.

Thanks for the tip about looking through the Member's Buell Pics section. I hadnt seen that up there, and as a plus, I get the references to all the Buell porn now. I found an orange translucid bike with an airbrushed inner airbox, and it looked good enough to give me the courage to get started.

I heard there was a five grand discount on new buells. Is that the deal you got?

$11.5k out the door for both w/ 4yr warranties. They have an 1125R for $500 less than an xb12scg.

I picked up a new xb12r on Friday- same deal. If you can put the transluscent air cover- please post up pics. I love that look, and I've seen them with led's under to light it up. [up]

i already trimmed up my airbox and painted it white. i ordered the hero blue airbox cover, but it has a 3 week lead time. so, since my girlfriend's lightning is the hero blue one, i will switch on her airbox cover tomorrow and take pics for you.

I was on the fence, but I am totally gonna trade plastics with dave_xb12r now. I think I am going to leave the inner airbox white so you can see it through the plastics better, but black is the way to go with that airbox cover. I may do like a matte silver on the inner airbox...
