You must have is the fairing, fairing stay, light assembly, upper tree clamp, handle bars, throttle cables and thats about it.

The ignitions are a bit different I believe but can be made to work. :p

If you mean you have a Firebolt and want to put a Lightning front end on?. . . . you are not only going to need all that xtremelow mention but you will need to move all the electrical to the back which entails a new wiring harness. I started on this venture a while ago and even bought a Lightning wiring harness, come to find out it takes a lot of work and an extra set of hands. you basically need to drop the front end of the motor down to switch out harnesses. So as for me I am at a dead stop with my bike in array, I really want my Firebolt to have a clean front end but lack the mechanical knowhow and the extra set of hands. If any one knows differently please Share as I am in desperate need.

Bronjeremy, if you meant putting a Firebolt front fairing on your Lightning?. .. . well thats a different story which has a happier ending

It isnt worth it, IMO, I did the rewire to put everything under the tail and it was pretty easy but hard to make everything look good under the tail.

If you do do it definitely change over to a Lightning wiring harness.

You have to nearly strip the entire bike to get the harness out and swapped around, this is what mine looked like mid process. And in the end I ended up rewiring it back to stock as I didnt want to spend the added money for the Lightning parts, plus I went a different direction too.

Keisersozae has done this - here's some info from a few of his threads.

another quick question kinda off topic does the header wrap help alot????

Heat - yes. Performance - no.

Wrap can deteriorate the metal in the header pipes underneath over time. Ceramic coating inside & out is just as effective but does cost a bit more.

another quick question kinda off topic does the header wrap help alot????

I'm in San Antonio where we had 60+ days above 100 degrees this year and YES IT DOES HELP.

You still get the heat on the top of your thigh but not so much on your calf.

Guys, I didn't want to start a new topic for the same subject.
I just got a Firebolt Fairing and I'll convert my XB9SX front into firebolt's.

Would you know what parts I need besides the head light and fairing? will I have to modify all the harnesses?

Thanks!

no you wont need to modify the harness. The reason the firebolts harness has to be modified is because the ecm and fuse box is located in the front faring. On the lightning models it is the oposite.

When I get off of work in a few hours (I am in afghnistan) I can send you the 2 pages from my parts book that has the parts you need for the firebolt front end if you would like.

hey vitor why dont you and bronjeremy swap all your parts, wiring harness, fairing stay ect. then everyone wins . and all u spend money on is shipping, and time of course. i never had a issues with getting parts from buellxb members.

Fock, that was the first thing I thought of. I know it's fine to get parts from members here.
Actually I bought all the tail parts from Ono_xb from the forum, but I don't to get rid of the oem parts plus I already have bars, fairings and triple tree here so.

firebolt020283, that would be great thank you!

thanks guys

While we're on a related subject.... how much work is it to put a lightning tail on a firebolt? I'd assume if you don't mess with the fuses and all that it would seem like you can just swap everything over.

How much space does the extra stuff take up on the front of the bike on a firebolt? While I'm looking for a bike I'm definitely going to consider a lightly crashed/rashed bike if I can find one, or even just a clean firebolt if I come across a good enough deal on one, but it would eventually get stripped down. I think if I found an xbr I wouldn't mind just taking the lights already on it and stacking them vertically, and just sticking that extra stuff beside them. At least until winter came and I replace it with the proper front end and new wiring harness. Is there enough room to stash that stuff somewhere, even if it won't fit under the lightning flyscreen??
