DRAGON III
April 16-18, 2010
http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh266/Dragonslayer_Inc/1stBF-STD004.jpg

2010 will be the third year for this awesome event.
We will be staying at the Ironhorse Campground in Stecoah, NC www.ironhorsenc.com
Come and ride The Dragon, The Cherohala Skyway, and Hellbender 28 with fellow Buell enthusiasts.
Everyone Welcome.

Hardley-Davidson may be able to stop Buell from making more of the world's greatest motorcycles, but they can't stop Buell riders from owning the corners.
Keep the spirit of Buell alive!!

I look forward to meeting everyone.
Man, this has been the ****tiest winter we've ever had here. I'm pretty confident it will be out of here in time for the Dragon weekend.

How do you guys feel about moving this Buell gathering to a different, more convenient location? The Deal's Gap Motorcycle Resort. Mrs. Dragonslayer and I spoke with MG (one of the managers) and he showed us their books for that weekend. They are booked up the weekend before and after, but have as much as 11 standard rooms the weekend we'll be there, as well as plenty of room for camping. http://www.dealsgap.com/motel.htm

The Iron Horse, (God bless 'em), is a good place but there was a few things that I didn't feel was right. They said another group wants the area that weekend (a BMW group) and we were kinda put second place to them and only had availability to leftovers. The rooms were reserved for them although they hadn't made any official reservations or money deposits. I know most want to camp, but some would like to get a room. Also, to eat at the Iron Horse you had to let them know in advance so they knew how many to cook for, then you eat at their time. At the DGMR you eat whenever you want. The food at The Dragon's Den is the best. http://www.dealsgap.com/restaurant.htm

The Iron Horse is 24 miles south of The Dragon, while of course the DGMR is right there at the state line where The Dragon begins.

We feel this move would be so much more convenient, but we also want to see what y'all think.

Personally we prefer Ironhorse. As far as pre-ordering food, you're only talking about that morning, before we head out each day.

As far as location, Hellbender is in between Ironhorse & the Dragon, which is a great ride and a good warmup. Plus it's closer to the little dragon, US28.

Just our opinion.
Kevin & Kristen

P.S. The lodge at Ironhorse is more comfortable than the restaurant at Deal's Gap for just hanging out in the evenings.

2 weeks to go, and this was posted today from the Deals Gap Resort:

"Ok folks, getting the issues at the Gap worked out. TN has almost finished the law enforcement plan, and Graham county just sent the EMS letter off to our state reps to get to TN. Hopefully we will have the gap opened up early next week."

Haha. Yep, he was there with a Buell riding friend. We had a few jap bikes in the group. The guy on the left was on a suzuki SV650, second from the left was on a kawasaki concours, and the girl third from the right was on a Suzuki GSXR 750. The funniest was the guy on the right, who brought an 1125R. It had charging problems, so he could not ride with us Friday. He wasn't there when we rolled back in. He pulls in at 11 pm pulling a trailor with a brand new kawasaki Z1000 on it. His bike broke down, so he just bought a new one. You can't make that kind of stuff up. We had every kind of current Buell, from the blast, to the 1125, but no old Tubers. I think the Buell with the best representation was the Uly, two Xs and two XTs.

The guy on the far left has a killer Wife Beater on too. That's hardcore biking apparel there bro
