I take my 2009 Buell Firebolt XB12R on several long trips. Is it possible to put some type of a cruise control that works well on one of these?
Thanks!

I installed one of the cheap ($25 Cdn.) plastic throttle locks in about 20 min. Works great, wouldn't even think of more than two hours or so without it. Wayne

travis I have the ones that mart is showing you they work really great. on long straight roads set it then just sit up and control your bike with you legs and enjoy the ride. I followed my buddys for about a 100 miles with out touching my handle bars when we stopped everyone started stretching from leanning over for that long and I was good. I have them on a bolt 12r. and you can adjust the tension on very easily.

WELL YOU CAN FIND SOME FOR $30 BUCKS AT ANT BIKE SHOP THAT YOU CAN SET WITH YOUR THUMB, BUT MY PROBLEM WAS GETTING IT TO BE LOOSE ENOUGH TO RELEASE THROTTLE WHEN NOT SET. AND IF IT WAS LOOSE ENOUGH THAT IT ACTUALLY HELD THE THROTTLE WHEN SET.

I tried the cramp buster also but didnt like that I had to have my hand on the bars at all times.
even if you dont like letting go totally of your bars, switching hands kind of gives you a little position change

I bought the cheap thumb lock type throttle lock. The problem is they are built for the jap street bikes so I cut the tabs off the bottom then glued/nailed the top to the kill switch box and then I can adjust the tension for the bottom half to hold the throttle. Works fairly well. Took a few iterations to get come up to the nail and glue solution. I can snap a couple of pictures if you would like.

I have The Trottlemiester for my XB12R that I bought used from a brother on here who was using it with his 12R but have not yet installed it. I also have had The Trottlemiester on another bike for years and LOVE love LOVE it. Worth the money to me even at the new price. I will report back here once installed and tested on my 12R.

yes i have and they are the best thing out there for $25. you have to do a bit of massaging on the pair of half-moon sections that grip and hold the actual throttle sleeve but being they're plastic it's very easy to do. they work nicely when installed correctly.

Had to roll the grip back and grind the lip on the tube down smooth it works good now but I want the thumb piece to stay locked it just rotates with the tube all the time if not locked. I'm going to find a meaty spot on the housing where it wont interfere with internals and i can put a little screw in to hold the device in one spot.

I just picked up a Go Cruise throttle lock and have to admit, for as simple a thing as it is, the damn thing works awesome. Portable (slips on or off in 5 secs), non-invasive to the controls or grip and no modification required. Yep, a $20 piece of plastic that totally works as advertised. Makes me mad that I didn't think of it first.
