I've been looking for wide tire kits for my buell to make it a little diffrent...I know it will kill some of the handleing but I'm from lima,Ohio the roads here are straight and fairly flat:( But I've had a few real close calls with wheelies and cops so I also thought it would keep me from doing them to?I've found a few kits heres some pics what do you guys think?

I know the second one isn't streched it's just wide tired and chain drive!I dont know if they drag race the first onr or not but he said he's had it on both edges of the 250mm tire...he said it still handles well?

if you're going for a wide tire kit, chaindrive is a must.

i prefer my short bike, that's one of the things that pushed me towards buell.
but tastes differ, that's what makes the world interesting ;)

handling...you might be able to compare it to a vrod or something in that division.

I want to put a 210mm tire and chain on a 96 X1 i'm looking at.. I would be thankful for some input or advise on getting a wheel wide enough. I've heard the wider PM Buell wheel will work. Has anyone out there ever put a 200 or a 210 on a Buell wheel? Thanks

Going from 180 to 200 isn't that big of a stretch. I am sure the stock wheel would fit it.

The second bike is mine. Cool to see it show up on this forum. I wouldn't say that a 240mm setup retains the stock handling characteristics, but it is definitely better than I expected.

The pictures shown are in a stock 03-05 swing arm. I just finished installing an 07 Uly swing arm that adds about 1.75" to the wheel base. I don't know if I'd call it "stretched" but it is longer than stock but retains the stock look. Most people don't even notice the difference.

I would post a new pic but I haven't figured out how to do that yet.

Hows the power with the chain. Also did you get more top end on it.I want to go to chain with a wider tire but i don't want to lose power. But if i get more top end it might be worth the loss...

Just changing to a chain isn't going to increase or decrease power at all. The motor still puts out the same power. Most use a chain set up that is very similar to the stock gearing. I like the smoothness of the final belt drive. Chains can get loud and annoying.

There are usually pros and cons for every change you make to a OEM product. The belt is quiet, never needs lubrication and the new ones are rated for the life of the bike. However, chains allow for gearing changes and provide weight savings. Chain technology has come along way. New X-ring style chains provide good longevity and are substantially quieter than the kind you would have found on a dirt bike when we were kids.

In my case, I feel that the chain is the lesser of two evils. In order to run a belt and a 240mm tire, the wheel would have to be offset in the swing arm. I am able to run the wheel in the true center with the chain.

Also, dans03firebolt is correct. It does nothing to increase or decrease power at the crank. It is the delivery of this power to the wheel that changes. Normally the fewer teeth in the rear equals higher top speeds and more teeth gives greater torque.
