Just got a sweet deal on an '07 Lightning with 17 miles on it from the local HD dealer. Would like to know where to purchase a decent fender eliminator. This is my first sportbike, but I've owned Harley's for years. Wish I would have done this sooner. The Buell is nothing but pure fun! A totally different skill set is used when you drive a sportbike.

Congradz on the purchase. Rizoma makes one of the best. PJ's Parts in KY sells the complete Rizoma line.

Also, I'm pretty sure xtremelow still has one for sale at a great price. You might want to check with him.

Go go Americansportbike.com. They sell die cast color matched fender eliminators that are factory quality unlike other brands that sell unpainted fiberglass. They actually come from dieselmoto, but are reshaped by the owner of the site so that they fit better. Plus Dieselmoto doesn't clean the edges after diecasting

I would be willing to make another "horned" tail like the one I pictured above, but not able to take on any side work until spring, if you could wait till then, probably april, then I'd be willing to chop you're stock fender for probably $50 plus shipping both ways.

and thats for a black, paint isn't an exact match to factory but is close enough. any other color would be more, and if you wanted exact frame color match then I'd have to order the paint and that would be the extra cost for paint cost and shipping to me.

Cutting the stock tial up is easy and gives you the look you want for minimal effort, maybe a recoat or paint if you want to change colors or scratch up the stock one, but otherwise free.

I will look you up if I don't have it done by then.

hey uh2, if I come up with some time anytime before this spring I'll be sure to post again to let you know and see if you are still interested, would love to help ya out. Takes me about 4-6 hours (plus drying time) to make a tail like mine, I do alot of hand filing and fitting to make it smooth and as close to the same on each side as possible by hand, so charging well below my minimum for metal working and time involved. if you need more info, or want to contact me personally just e-mail me at eo_scenario@yahoo.com, shoot me an e-mail and I'll get back to you when I'm available to do the work. I live in south east Ohio btw so you can get an idea on shipping cost, 43943 is area code.

forgot to mention, I do not cut the bottom of the tail to let light to the plate, my plate mount is too far back for it to light properly, as you can see in the 3rd pic I use simple "windsheild washer sprayer" lights from autozone wired into the stock wiring for the plate light and bolted straight through the bottom bolt holes of my plate. works pretty well, and never been pulled over for it, lighting included would cost extra for the cost of me to buy them. (but can easily just pick some up yourself)

just my 2cents. i bought the diesel moto and wasn't really happy with the quality. it fit perfect but the craftsmanship was not what i had hoped for as there are several imperfections on both sides of the tail light. didn't affect fit, just aesthetics.

Personally, I like Speed of Color in Germany - Most are around $400 - but look sweet and offer LED - I like the Shark Nose the best.. [up]

I have RRC Cateye -tail. Like it because the tail light is half smaller than OEM.

The shark nose is the one I originally wanted to get..but at $400....that's probably north of ridiculous amount of $$ to spend on a fender eliminator. Although the two lenses look tits.

I can probably handle the lighting on my own.

What part of SE Ohio are you in? I'm in Cleveland BTW. I love the roads down there. Maybe I've run into you on an Ohio forum?!?!

I've got an 09 City X FYI..the frame is black.

I've been working on the tailchop for 3 days now... I was cutting it with a 7.2 volt cordless dremel with a carbide cutting bit and a mini hand saw... finally I just got tired of moving along at a snails pace so i just set it down on the floor and wacked it with a hammer it broke right along the cuts I had made :D ... So I guess im off to buy a angle grinder tomorrow any advice on this stage of the mod?

Wax Pencil, hacksaw, and 35 minutes and I was already painting mine. Done 3 now so I am sure that aided in my effort and time.
