Scg for sure! How experienced a rider are you? If not so-take a course & gain some valuable erxperience.

+1 on the Blast, with a low seat (easy to find). A great small bike. Super light and flickable, but obviously not as fast as a 1200 cc V Twin!
I really enjoy ours, even though I have a 12Ss as well.

not raining on the buell parade, but kawi has a pretty cool red and black combo for the 250r out this year with a tribal kinda pattern on it
i thought it was pretty cool!
plus that blue they have is just sexiness!
Mmmm perdy bluuuuuue...

i think the blast is a bit LESS impressive, looks wise
tho i have seen a street fightered out one in dallas that was AMAZING!

u can see it here for quicklooking

Yeah, Blasts can be very cool looking, given the right scalpel:
I love this yellow one on BC Rider.com (http://bcrider.com/guest2003.html), although yellow isn't my fave bike color.

I don't think even the SCG will be low enough. I'm 5'6" and can stand flat footed comfortably. If you are a beginner in riding probably a Honda Rebel 250 would be the easiest. There are several of those around and can usually be had fairly cheaply. Also if you are looking for something newer, HYOSUNG has a cool cruiser bike in 250cc and 650cc, one of these bikes might fit fairly well.

After my inital time on a dual sport that was way too big, I bought a ninja 250 and loved it. It was pretty small and light, but was perfectly stable at highway speeds. I could ride that thing around all day going 90-110mph so don't let the small engine size put you off, plus they hold their resale value really well, so buy one, ride it for a while until you feel you've out grown it, then sell it for a downpayment on new bike. Being able to get your feet flat on the ground is very reassuring when you're learning, which is how I picked the 250 in the first place, but once you're comfortable with riding and moving a bike around, there's no problem only being able to touch with your toes/balls of your feet.

This is my backup ride for when I'm working on the XB12R or for w/e reason I can't ride it.

going to take the fairing and luggage of this summer, swap to club-mans and some LED flush lightning, it'll be a cute little ride with ~50 HP in the rear wheel and top speed of ~107 mph.

At 5'-1" you either did not try a low sportster, or your legs are extra-short. You should be able to get both feet solidly down on a low sportster, as it has about a 25" seat height, about as low as you will be likely to find, except maybe the Rebel. Or a Blast with low seat option. There are several good threads floating around currently about good rides for the short of leg and new of experience. Let us know what you end up with!

yea i know most people on this site hate harley but a sportster low or a 883 iron or 1200 nightster should be low enough and if u like the custom you could have it lowered ull spend more coin that way but its all up to you

03-04 XB9SL or a CG would be perfect!

Ninja 250 is a good bike, much better than a blast in every way. Rebel is nice and low. Don't know if weight is a big factor but a Fat Boy low is nice if you like cruisers. It's heavy but sits real low.

My wife is 5'2" and she fits really well on both the blast and the nightsters so I would think one of those 2 would be good options.

my buddy is 4'11 with timbalands lol and he rides a lowerd r6 and flat foots it. so you do have options. lower it or find somthing that sits stock low.

My openion the kawi isnt worth it that 2cylinder 250 is somewhere around 32hp/16trq and the blast is 600cc much more powerful and cheaper probably...let us know how it goes.

not too much more powerful for having over twice the engine size. the blast only has about 34 hp and 30 trq. its a little more torque-y, but you wont notice that too much.

I used to have a ninja 250, I could cruise around on that thing going 110 all day. Standard cruising speed was 90mph, and it was so light that it was plenty easy to keep it at those speeds on back roads. The engine is small enough that it doesn't feel all that buzzy either. I highly recommend the 250. The gs500 we got for my wife is ok as well, but I feel like the 250 would've given it a run for it's money.

It's not the most powerful bike, but it definitely makes up for the power with it's weight and size.

First off, I wouldn't recommend a 250R for someone as short as you, I would go with a blast. I'm 5'7" and the Blast was, well a blast! I loved that bike and it was my starter bike. When I sold it I wish I had been able to keep it. Moving on, the 250R can't do over 105MPH unless there was some motor work done, the Blast I could get up to and a little over 100MPH. The Blast has a lot more torque and is a lot more fun to ride thru the city and from light to light.
