I lost one of two ignition keys for my CR. HD charges $25 to replicate a key. Theres talk of a Volvo key blank and cutting it by a locksmith, but I didn't hear the CR or R mentioned.

Any suggestions?

Go to a locksmith. They will have a blank that will fit and make a copy for a few bucks. Easy peasy.;)

You can find key blanks on ebay for a couple bucks that will work. Take the blank and get a copy of it.

Figure the couple bucks for ebay, shipping, wait for it to arrive............drive to locksmith, pay him = just pay the $25 @ HD & be done with it. A bargain to the $230+ key I had to replace from BMW for my car. Just sayin...

How can I get a replacement key from HD myself?

I have only 1 key that came with the bike when I bought it used. I tried getting a key from the Japanese Buell/HD dealer around here for $85 for two keys, but the ones they ordered for my bike's VIN did not work.

Any ideas that wouldn't mean having to mail my one and only key Stateside?

Thanks!

keith try going to a locksmith and seeing if they can duplicate it. If they do not have a blank that will fit it order one off of ebay.

I just had a new Uly helmet lock rekeyed to match my '09 XB ignition key on Saturday. The locksmith told me that Buell keys use the same blank as a Triumph motorcycle key. I think he said the blank was a TC1.

Hope this helps and good luck!!
