Tomorrow is finally around the corner! Heading to Big Sky Harley in Great Falls Montana to pick up a new 1125cr. Super stoked and looking forward to the trip. I’m driving from Graham, Washington so the details are: 696mi 11hrs 26min. each way according to the iPhone. Plan on leaving my house at 2200 to shoot for the opening of the dealership at 0900 MT. time, pickup the bike, load it in the back of my ’93 Toyota pickup, strap it in, turn around & head back in one shot! Bringing my buddy with me in case I start falling asleep…. Crazy? Maybe, but it’ll save me $400-$600 in shipping costs. Plus get to take a bunch of crazy cool pics on the way back (got a Nikon D90 w/ a couple bad-ass lenses) that I hope to post here. Anyways, if this were summer I’d fly there & ride it back (good way to take care of the break-in period) but the weather is too cold & un-predictable right now. Never been that far east via I-90 so any thoughts, ideas, comments, suggestions or whatever let me know! Wish me luck!:p

that sounds like a fun road trip. i'm in redmond wa. and travel over I-90 quite frequentley. you should have no problems. where are you going to get on I-90? are you going to go up to hwy. 18 then over to 90 at snoqualmie/north bend?

Yep, 167 to 18 to I90. Leaving that late should be ZERO traffic. Going to try & sleep all day tomorrow to have energy at night, but I'm thinking that's easier said than done.

Good work Maskido... I did the same thing here in Oz, had about an 11 hr drive there and back, did it straight also.. no stopping. Picked up 3 CR's on an open bike trailer, wrapped them up nice n good but was still a nervois trip back :). Fantastic bike, I agree with extreme..youll love her, unlike any bike I have ridden before..!!![up]

Hey Maskido. I did the same thing when I got mine. Definitely worth the drive. I really think you'll love it. I put mine n the back of an open trailer and headed for home. Great weather up and back but it's been nasty since I got home. Hopefully you will get to ride it when you get home.

Well, I was late in the game when it came to hearing about Buell being shut down. Prior to last week it's been since last summer since I walked in to a HD/Buell dealership. So I randomly walked into my local shop to look and when I heard the crappy news I scrambled to find the nearest place that had the bike I wanted (& was planning on getting this spring/summer.) Big Sky in Great Falls was the place . Guy named Erik has been pretty good to deal with so far.

Three?!? Dang! To be quite honest, if it wasn't my pending doom (er, I mean potential engagement) somewhere in my near future, I would have picked up an XB12Ss from them as well. The XB was what really turned me on to Buell but ultimately the 1125cr won me over. Couldn't believe the prices.

Yeah 3.. lol.. one for my Bro and 1 for his mate. The XB12Ss was my first choice also but couldnt get one here in Oz, spewin.. would have had 2 Buells in the garage.

Aussie, i do, sucked in, pick between the two all the time. Best part they are both black!!!! Could'nt do it with two women though and would'nt want to! Xb12ss and 1125cr is the best of both worlds. One is nice and quiet when you're riding the other!!!:D:D

Pics for sure! I just got a D90 and want to make a trip this summer to take some pics like you. what lenses do yo have for it? I only picked up the 35mm f1.8 so far.

driving is the only way to go for me. shipping the bike wouldn't have given you any stories about how you got the bike "and so they shipped it to me" just isn't half as cool as driving 23 hours to get it home.
when I was in the military I would refuse to fly because seeing the countryside was worth the extra time and energy it took to drive. I would nonstop from either Texas or Florida to Michigan. about 1,300 miles each way. I would detour just for fun and made my trip home 2,500 miles once because I kept going out on "detours" along the way, but that trip lasted 2 days so I slept in the car at the last minute.

Soooo, here are some pics from the trip. Wish I would have taken more, but driving for close to 24hrs straight took it's toll. Ended up leaving WA at 17:00, arriving at Big Sky Harley in Great Falls MT @ 07:00. Took an hour long nap, woke up to my bike parked out front warming up (guy must have seen the WA plates and figured it was me sleeping in his parking lot, lol.) Loaded it up & drove back trying to cover as much ground as possible before it got dark. Made it home by 21:00. So far have put only 80 miles or so, & about to go for a ride here in a lil bit. The most ridiculous bike I have ever been on. So much fun & power! I've put on the Jardine fender eliminator, & ordered the HID kit, Jardine RT5 exhaust & a badass custom skull key yesterday! Lovin it!

DELTA ONE; I have a Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 & a Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8. Both are outstanding.

I REALLY want to get the Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G but the $1700+ tag is kinda steep right now (esp. with all the stuff I just bought for the bike.) I just got into photography this last december (christmas gift to myself) & still am trying to learn & figure it out. Anyways, hope you get a chance to get out there & take some pics yourself!

ahh road trips are great! last spring i drove from MN to RI to pick up my Millennium X1. 1300 miles each way. Drove all the way out and back in a weekend. It was just about 23 hours each way! Also this winter i want from MN to Plano TX to pick up my xb12r, that was about 600 miles each way.

I forgot I also have the kit 18-105 lens but my next few will be the 60mm micro(macro) the 70-300 and the 10-24 all Nikon glass

I had a sigma macro lens for about a day and didn't care for it, too soft around the edges and not an internal focus.
