hello everyone. i'm brand new to the site and still currently in Leatherneck Afghanistan. so please forgive me if i am reposting an already asked question.

I just picked up a 2009 1125R vie internet. i have done some pretty good reserch on it. but as many of you know the best reserch comes from the forums.

does anyone have some suggestions on a different pip set up? i have owned Harley's in the past and i'm not willing to give that sound up. any help would be great.[confused]

Just from many hours in front of my computer this is some of what I have learned. Stay away from jardine, they fall apart acording to MANY jardine owners. Next to a straight pipe, D and D is the loudest. HMF and FMF do good pipes for not much money but stick outside the frame and are not true to the original Buell design. Hawk is currently working on a 1125 pipe and from what I have read about quality and service and cost he cant be beat. Drummer has probibly IMO from the sound bytes the deepest sound and proven dynos but its a grand for those. The uglyest has to be the torque hammer but once again pretty spendy. I know there are a few more out there but you can research for yourself. I have found exhaust really is a personal opinion thing. Search this site and youtube for pics and sound and make your own mind up. Look to see if there are dynos that prove their claims. Do you want more power on the top or bottom? Do you want loud or quiet? Deep or high tone? Do you want to stay true to Buell design and stay underslung or hang out to the side like imports? Is price a big deal? These are ?s you need to answer then have fun looking. Good luck.:)

Trip7,

Thanks for the "down and dirty" review of exhausts! I was going to post the same question... Now just need to go look at pics and prices.

only slip on stay under the bike and has a dyno sheet increase across the board I found was Barker and still within the sub 400 range
the 1125 will never sound exactly like an air cooled twin but this sounds great.
Also has tune options with quite cores
if you registered at buelltien or buell forum puzzled offers 10 % off
you can get it for 380 shipped

I will always and forever be a Jardine fan whether its on my 1125 or the CBR1000. I have never had a problem with them and I dont know anyone who has. Triple7 is right that it is an opinion so keep in mind that EVERYONE has their own opinion on style, and their definition of "throaty" and "harley" sound. I know people who will bash on D&D, HMF and FMF and will say they have terrible quality cause they had bad experiences all day long but then again every company has bad batches and bad days. Your best bet is to YouTube all the exhausts and listen to them. YouTube doesnt have the best sound in the world but you will get the idea. If loud is what you want, D&D has got to be the loudest but then again thats an opinion. I for one would do EVERYTHING to make it NOT sound like a Harley since it isn't hahaha. But that's a personal preference that you want and I respect that. Good luck and let us know what you come up with.

i got a d & d on my cr and i am also a harley guy and i love it. it is deffinetley the loudest thing ive ever heard and i pretty much had strait pipes on my 1200 and i thought that was loud. if you like the harley sound go w/ d&d cause all the other hmf fmf jardine all look like a rice grinder exhaust and dont sound very good

Xtreme6669 has the FMF and it's INSANE!!!

If you (I) ride on his ride side you'll get a real treat. It'll wake the dead when he gets on it.

hey cheezits, if you like the look and the power of the bike as is then a modded stock sounds great and is A LOT cheaper than buying a new muffler. HP stays the same and he turns out the muffler exits. I found these videos on youtube and I think they sound kick ass.

+1 03. cheezits, another pipe to think about that i don't think was mentioned was the HR1. It's probably the second loudest next to the D&D and definetly will let other people know your on the road. When I first started it I couldn't think how in the world the D&D could be any louder but from the one time I did hear the D&D I'm convinced. With the HR1 you can mix colors between blue, green, red, black, and white. If you want loud, look into hardrockmotorsports.com. It's best to just e-mail them for some pics. They got back with me via e-mail on the weekend. Good luck.;)

The guy with the hacked stock pipe is registered here he even offered to sell me his d&d but i already planned to pick up my barker.
I am 100% pleased with the barker.
It is loud and has a great aggressive note.
Starting to ride my bike harder and it runs great.
I road with a bunch rice bikes with pipes last night i laughed they all fired up and i pointed mine at them when i lit mine they all turned and looked because you feel the power. was 3 gsxr's a zx10 and one r6.
I easily can drowned out there pissed off bumble bee mufflers

It sounds better in person, although those are pretty close. If you want loud, go with the RT3, if you want a more mellow tone but still make it thump, I'd go with the RT1

I had a couple r owners at my house last weekend and I
finally heard a barker . It was pretty loud.
He then put the quiet core in and wow night and day.Heck for 400.00 that seems to be the best bang for the buck. The dyno charts were performed from a non bias dyno owner even. The barker guy sounds like a true standup american builder giving a honest price.I give that guy two thumbs up for his quality. I also rode the bike .Very Very smooth.Im very interested in one.
I also want to note that the welds look very well performed and very tight. Not blotchy inconsistant welds unlike some I've seen.Another two thuymbs up.If I'm paying over 400.00 dollars for something It should be a masterpiece that fits the masterpiece I'm riding.[up]

i totally agree with the barker exhaust comments. i rode the bike only once with the original pipes on it. it was a blast. but then my new barker showed up in the mail. only 20 minutes to install too! and that only because i had to find a damn missing bolt! it sounds great. i left the core in just to keep the cops eyes off me. i agree that it sounds so much better with out it. But around Camp Lejuene i don't want to deal with the hassle of an angry cop messing with marines. thanks to everyone for your input. the dyno's made the choice pretty easy too.
