Starter with gasket kit is $435 + shipping:eek:
If it's not leaking through the weep hole in the bottom/rear of the starter, don't buy one.
I'll pull that today and take a look.
100% sure the leak is found. I pulled the primary cover and well well, the starter bolts wern't even close to even finger tight. This thing must vibrate like hell. My question is should I replace the gasket or just re-torque. A bit of oil shouldn't hurt the gasket. Pulling the starter might require 3 hands and be a real pain because the bolt towards the rear can't be removed which could actually turn out to be a good thing. It's squeaky clean inside though so clutch wear is at a minimum.
You don't need to remove that bolt out of the hole past the gear. Just take the other one out first:eagerness:
I'd just tighten it and see what happens? Maybe order a gasket to keep on the shelf next time you're looking for something to do?
I tightened the bolts. Next track day in 2 weeks.
I'm shooting for the next Buttonwillow:)
I'll get there one of these days. Enjoy
That issue is resolved. Two days, 14 sessions, no oil anywhere.
