So, it looks like Barrett figured it out.

So, what probably happened is that the bike is likely still running the factory stock (lean) map. Now with the Jardine, its going to run leaner. Add on that the fuel pressure was probably falling off as the leak in the hose got worse and worse. It was likely barely able to provide enough pressure to run the fuel injection making it run even leaner. At some point, things just melted down. In fact I think the wrist pins were starting to seize as well.
This also happened. So, they probably spun in the small end.

forgot to say my vote was "whatever barrett says"...
Well, I'm sorry to hear this but, now you can rebuild it better and f you get some beer, Cooter will come over and Install the coils for you.
34,
Well you just weren't using your head. Instead of mucking about with the old frapped out XB you could be roaring down the freeway on my(your) EBR 1190RX at 150mph enjoying the big double overhead cam sensation. Probably could have had mine for what it will cost you to get the XB up to spec.

Just for nothing, but what the heck--anybody want to swap an XLCH for my EBR?
34--good luck with your meltdown motor.
Barrett, since you tried to kill me with that lever deal, you owe me one.

Are you looking for an XLCH or XLCX?
Well, 34, I am not familiar with the XLCX designation so lets go with the XLCH. The why is 'cause no electrical system to speak of, kick start, gravity fuel supply--primitive. Has a big appeal, and I am not in too much of a hurry these days.
My trips are more aimed towards camping and even fishing in some remote lake.
The kickstart on the XLCH might be a problem(kneesville) so am definitely interested in the XR1200--Barrett says they are the bomb.
Offering a twofer on the XR1200--my Uly and the EBR

An XLCH was an older model sports model from back in the ironhead days.
The 2016-up Sportster Roadster is an XL1200CX
Two completely different bikes.
