Oh no! Thats gonna need a big heli-coil:concern: Sorry for the bad luck.
What job are you doing? Something including CC's I hope:angel:
I already had the extra CC’s courtesy of Dan at NRHS, but noticed a small base gasket oil leak at the rear left cylinder stud area. Since I was installing an new exhaust, I figured i would tackle it as I’m part way in. The pulled stud is on the forward right position. Luckily, the hole is blind and appears to be a clean pull.
Now... to helicoil or timesert?
Sounds like you have this one under control. I stripped the oil drain plug on my Honda Accord. Hate that feeling when the wrench just slips.... it’s the feeling of a ****e day!
Haven’t stripped a buell bolt yet. But I have a rear caliber mounting stud that makes me nervous every time I take off the rear wheel (usually to change wheel bearings)
I thought torqued meant tighten until it gets loose, then 1/2 turn?:applause:
Theres enough meat around that hole that either repair should be stronger than stock. Just go with what you like.
Dan from NRHS recommended a timesert, and a specific one tailored to this issue with this motor.
So now... I wait...
until Wednesday.
