I've got an 2008 XB12STT (Super TT) and I want to add passenger pegs.
I know the STT and SS are very similar.
If I didn't want to keep the number plates, I'd have to take them off completely and buy Lightning passenger peg mountings, pegs, hardware, etc, aka simple and easy.
But, I'd like to keep the number plates on the side.
Option 1: Buy the Ulysses passenger peg mounting set-up (the castings, pegs, hardware, etc). I keep the number plates and I have passenger pegs.
Option 2: Attach the normal Lightning passenger peg under the seat like normal with the number plate pinched between. Has that ever been tried? If not, why? Interference? Would the curve of the triangle castings hit the panels? If I needed more length to clear the plates, I can machine some rectangular spacers (also at various angles if needed to clear the plates) and use longer bolts. Has that ever been done before?
I checked the prices, and option 2 is like half the price compared to option 1.
How common is it to put the Ulysses setup on other XB models?
Also, what are the differences in height from the ground and forward/backward for the peg compared to a Ulysses setup vs. Lightning STT/SS? What would be more have less bending for the knees for comfort?
Lots of questions, please address each of my concerns.
Thanks,
MetricZero

Hey did you ever get any answers to this? I'm looking at the same options for my STT but would like to go with the Ulysses mounts as I think it looks better. There are a few users on here who have done that swap on the SS if you look around. What I'm needing to know is what all is needed to do the swap from anyone who knows. Do we need Ulysses shifter lever and brake lever? From comparing the two bikes online I can see ether a drop bracket or the whole shift lever is different between the two for sure. I've messaged a user on here and if he gives me any info I'll post it in here for others.

Here's a pic of the drop bracket and the difference in length of the connection rod.http://www.buellxb.com/buell_images/...23165334_L.jpg

Thanks for that! You wouldn't happen to have a part number for the bracket would you? The linkage is P/N N0320.1AK and runs about $20.00
Here's a link I came across while searching, this guy lowered his stock peg brackets (SS). What he has done may help people looking to swap ULY brackets or do as he did for more peg drop.

lowkey,
I can't find the # for the bracket.

So for people who may want to do this
The ulysses shift linkage P/N N0320.1AK
The ulysses shift lever drop bracket P/N N0802.1AK
The ulysses left side peg bracket P/N N0526.1AKYBP
The ulysses right side peg bracket P/N N0527.1AKYBP
The ulysses driver pegs left/right P/N N0006.1AK
The ulysses passenger pegs left/right P/N N0042.1AK
The ulysses rear brake line P/NH1522.1AK
