Sounds like your air to fuel ration is off what do you mean by running bad, does it have a flat spot, no power, or is it a stutter, we need a better explanation to diagnose the problem.

Sounds like your primary chain needs to be adjusted... you prob shift out of first gear early and ride out second. I may be wrong but i would check that first.
