From the sound of it I would say these are not an option. I think you are going to be stuck replacing the head but the bigger question is what caused it? I am sure some of the experts will chime in...

Thats not a question that can easily be answered, it would depend on a lot of factors. How well you maintain it, how hard you ride it, luck, etc.

Just ride it in reverse. I would get that taken care of ASAP, tires are made to roll in a certain direction for a reason.

Taking into account that he is a Harley Mechanic and it is in the condition you mention I dont think 2k or a little less would be bad.

I paid 3k for my 03 XB9R with 15k a few months ago. Not to say that means anything.

I have the same issue with mine, if I press the rear brake real hard it will work though. I was told to bleed the brakes and that may fix it. If not I will replace the switch.

Thats a good dealer, they did the 10k service on my Harley and were awesome. I dont think they were a Buell dealer so I dont know if they will service it. I may have to bit the bullet and take it...
