I'll try that but still have an issue that the fan is on with the key off. I'll put a new fuse in and the fan will run about 3-4 seconds and the fuse blows. What would enable the fan to have power...
Just to clarify things...when cold and key off fan is alive. Put in a new 10 amp fuse and fan will run for 3-4 seconds then the fuse blows. Wanted to understand what would make fan active on a cold...
Yeah I know I'll need to address the rocker box leak at some point. I assume its blowing the fuse from higher amp draw due to the oil on the blades? But how does the fan remain active with the key...
Bike has 11500 miles and yes the rear rocker is leaking a bit. Not really much oil anywhere. A slight film on blades and fan grill.
I was out riding my '07 XB12Ss and the check engine light came on. Headed home and checked the codes with my ECMDroid. Got a code 36. Found a blown 10amp fan fuse.
Did the quick look see at the...
Great find! I'd leave it pretty much as it is. These bikes are hard to find unmolested.
Noted...and I think you've earned the title!

I forgot/did not realize that the IEV servo was fused. You hit it on the nail...the fuse was blown. When the old unit failed it must have taken the fuse with it. Luckily the bike...
I did do that with no success. I'm wondering if actuator is bad or perhaps I'm not getting anything to the actuator.
Update:
Installed new exhaust valve actuator (S1138.1AA) checked for free movement of cable and lubed pivot, set free play. Cleared codes. Performed a manual exhaust valve cycle with ECMDroid...no...
Anyone know if the top end (Pistons, heads and cylinders) from a 1997 Buell will fit a 2000 Sportster 883?
Just removed the cable from the servo unit. It feels pretty free and smooth. Pulled the cable out fully and the tension remained consistent throughout the cable travel. It fully returned to its...
Sure I understand your point. However I really like and enjoy the stock sound level. At 62 years I'm kind of done with the loud bike thing. Not sure if there is even any aftermarket exhaust that...
OK, pulled air box cover off to take a look at exhaust servo unit. Cable moves freely. Tried to rotate pulley and it felt very stiff. It had a very noticeable sticking right at the beginning of...
OK, I see a code 21 relates to the exhaust/muffler valve. My bike is stock all the way down to the muffler. I will check the servo drive unit on the air filter cover and also check to see if the...
My check engine light came on today on my '07 XB12Ss. Hooked up my ECMDroid and got a code 21-AMC Stuck/AMC shorted. What is this?
Thanks guys! Looking at a picture again I see it...makes sense now.
I'm just about ready to purchase a new DEKA ETX14 for my XB12Ss. Been looking at pictures of the battery and was wondering what the heck all that red area is on the positive post side? I see what...
Yep!
2007 XB12Ss
Bought it in March with 6400 miles on it.
8000 miles on it now.
I used to live nearby in Glen Ellyn 35 years ago. Still get up to visit family and drove by this shop several weeks ago. Brought back memories as I have shopped there. Another big loss was the...
Thanks...that's what I'll do. Meanwhile since only the upper gasket (cover) on the rear cylinder is the one leaking, should I bother replacing the front upper gasket? What about the gasket that goes...
I just looked at the James gasket kit. Does not appear to have the correct rocker cover gasket. I assume a 2007 takes the "black" upper gasket with the wider tabs as apposed to the thinner orange...
Thanks for the info. I'll get what you suggested.
