Did someone remove the hooks? I’ve seen that done on some seats where the PO couldn’t figure out how to get the seat back on.

Actually, I think cooter may be on the right track.
Disregard
I think Cooter has a black cover that would be a great candidate for refinishing. ;)
Its called manufactured housing, you jerk. Remind me to send you a pic of a little jewel I found in Guadalupe sitting in a field.
That other thread reminded me of this... also inspect your primary cover around the clutch for cracking. The thread is on the Lightning side... probably on the top right now...
Until someoene...
Usually most people just notice that the clutch goes soft. It doesnt happen a lot... never happened to me (or anyone I know)... but it does happen enough for someone to come up with a fix and decide...
Also make sure the frame bushings havent fallen out. There should be one on either side of the hole.

Is it a translucent/clear red cover or a solid red one? The translucent ones in good shape command a pretty penny on the 'bay. You can still find used solid ones fairly cheap... and for what you are...
I have a zero mile cluster, but its not gonna be cheap. Welcome back Cooter may have a broken one in his pile of junk Buell parts.

Just remember that image is photoshopped to clean up for a catalog or press/media use. Note the mirror lined up perfectly, as are the wheels.... and no kickstand. The valve stems are likely...
I just wanted to stress the importance of that bolt. Someone on the Facebook had that happen to them on their bike when then came down from a wheelie.
Luckily, you can get a replacement from Home...

Maybe the harness where it exits under the frame and into the fairing?
I’m just worried about giving UNWANTED advice. Lol
There are a few sellers on eBay selling just the transmission for probably the same price or a little less.
I’ve found that pulling the whole frame off the motor works best also.
You may want to check out a shipping quote to see if you really want to do this. The shipping price on the seat to North...
Unfortunately they never put spool mounts on the XB. I think venom makes a set to fit XB’s.
Also check to see if your bike came equipped with a kickstand switch. Some did, most didn’t. But if you have one that may also be causing you some grief. And make sure your clutch switch is connected...
Often times it’s easier to leave the pistons in the cylinders and remove the wrist pins. You just need to remove one of the circlips and the pin should push right out with finger pressure. That’s...
Yeah, please don’t. Lol.
As a new owner, I’d recommend doing some ground maintenance as these bikes tend to need it. It’s not like it’s a bad thing, but it’s been about 15 years and I’d doubt...
Not even close.
Come get it this weekend and I’ll knock $50 off the price. I really don’t want to have to box/ship it. In fact, I need to get off my arse and get Fielding his scg seat boxed up and shipped out.

And congrats on getting the top end back together. It’s not an easy task on an XB.
Remember the whole thing has to come completely apart and the cases split to get at the transmission on these. There is no trap door.
If you look, you can find lower ends for sale on the cheap. In...
