Ah, that's normal. Keep riding.
JK. :p
I've never heard of the smoke/steam symptom. I'm assuming you checked the oil level. If you are on a '09 and haven't done the rotor/stator dance, then...
Good idea! I'd like to be able to turn the fan off for a moment while starting the bike; for those times when the battery is a little bit down on cranking power.
That looks like plenty of cargo space. I'm impressed.
OT: Who did that green powdercoat on your rims?
Actually, going out of alignment might even be considered "a feature, not a bug." The alternative would be (if everything were so rigid that nothing could slip out of alignment) parts would BEND or...
I also have the EBR ecm and Jardine RT-5 and the same rough throttle response from time to time. It's annoying, but the TPS reset takes care of that every time. I just wish I knew why the reset...
Why not think of your pods as twin, side-mount toaster ovens? Because that is what they'd be, whether you wanted it or not.
:p
Honestly, given the history of '09 stators, if I had one that wasn't dead yet I would not wait for it to die, I'd just go ahead and do the whole stator, rotor, etc. dance. The peace of mind would be...
Um, I believe your stator is fried, sir. All that black crud is not supposed to be there. So, if ain't dead yet, then it's dying.
Actually, I think that diagnosis holds for all stators running...
Be more specific. What happens (or doesn't happen) when you try to bleed the clutch? i.e. How are you attempting to bleed it?
Good luck. I hope it doesn't melt those cables if you get caught in "no-airflow" slow traffic.
Just in case, you may want to put a piece of muffler wrap tape where that harness passes closest to the exhaust system. That location will definitely get more airflow (compared to under the seat),...
That thing must be obscenely loud. It's completely un-muffled!
Sorry for slightly hijacking this thread, but check out this Buell with almost ZERO tail.

Does this design actually protrude far enough to keep the radiator pod of the deck in a tip-over with the steering at full lock? It looks like it definitely protrudes far enough to destroy my legs...
Compared to what?
Hawaii is better than a whole hell of a lot of places I have sampled, but it is not "paradise." Everything is expensive, traffic is outrageous, and some people just can't handle...
There are at least two CRs on Oahu, then; yours and mine. Mine is a red '09. I don't commute with it, but you may see it on base when I work OT on the weekends.
Heh.
That's one reason why I do all of my own service... I'm in Hawaii, too, btw. What branch of service are you? I'm a former Marine, now a DoD civilian at the shipyard.
No need to apologize.
This reminds me of people posting "replies" on Craigslist to sellers setting a price "too high." What's the point? Nobody is forcing anyone to be a part of a transaction. ...
Slipper clutches are for people who know how to rev match, too. All of the top racers use them. Apparently some of us think we know better (or at least rev match better) than the champions? :)
I like the reservoir covers! Do they have some sort of rubber seal on the underside (or an o-ring groove)?
It seems to me that the backfiring engine found the weakest link was the throttle body connection, which is why that link failed. With that (unusual) path to relieve the overpressure, I would be...
Maybe, if you can explain first how shavings or chunks could cause a backfire and failure to start.
Is your idea for a bigger bore or a longer stroke?
Is there a vendor offering that, or would you do it yourself?
Interested to hear how you think the CR and the BKing stack up. I considered that bike, too.
Welcome!
