Thanks lunatic. I've been using this diagram from the repair manual: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2pi4196d0kcv8p3/xb-wiring-diagram.pdf
From what I understand, 12v positive lead is the red wire (via...
Ok So Im back on track. i successfully removed the viper alarm, but I still have to same problem:
1- key on, switch off: I can hear the key switch relay clicking, gauges sweep but no oil/neutral...
Quick update on this, since I haven't had much time to spend on the bike :-(
I bought a few extra relays to test, but I get the same thing. Then I used the Viper diagram from Cooter to remove the...
I don't know the exact model, but I can look for a product number or serial. It has one large relay which I can hear click when I turn the alarm on and off. It's wired to allow ignition (pump used to...
I started looking into it, but it's a rat's nest and I'm afraid to create another source of problem. I might have to go get through it anyway if that's the source of the problem.
Ill start by saying I love my bike but man do we have a frustrating love-hate relationship. Breakdowns seem to appear more often lately and im tired of fixing it, but when she runs I love it!
So...
Looking for a used Jardine exhaust to fix mine, Im mostly interested in the exit tip part thats held on with rivets, but ill buy an entire used pipe if necessary
Nevermind, the light did go out eventually, after about 1mn of non stop cranking :-)
Now if the snow could melt, that'd be great...
Isn't the oil pressure light staying on as long as the engine isn't running?
I'm cranking with no plugs and no fuel pump, and I can't tell if I've got oil circulating. I uncoupled the pipes at the...
Yes, just top end.
How long can those engines run without oil? Id hate to have to take it all apart again...
I just finished my first top end rebuild on a 08 xb12s, stock everything, new gaskets everywhere and followed the manual religiously.
The bike started right away, but sounded like crap... No oil...
Do you still have the other end cap (exit side)?
I have a GP-1 with the long pipe that exits near the swingarm, but I visually prefers the RT1 look. I don't want to buy a complete used can for just...
allright, time to tear it up then. Thanks!
So my bike has been puking oil around the starter and through the transmission breather, and it wasn't until yesterday that I realized my primary was FULL of oil (we're talking more than 2 quarts),...
oh nice! One thing off the list!
The day it runs quietly is the day you'll have a problem ;)
I feel stupid asking this, but where the heck is the inspection plug on 2008 and older models? I know it's at the base between both cylinders on older models but the manual for 2008/09 doesn't...
I tried to ignore mine last summer, it killed the fan and I was bike-less for 3 weeks because the dealer couldnt locate a fan up here in Canada. If you ride with the leak, make sure to clean it daily.
Lunatic, i was just trying to list as many details as possible if anyone could see any correlations between hard shifting/neutral and oil pressure since doing research turned up nothing. I'll get the...
Just realized the oil came out of the case breather (somewhere behind the base of the rear cylinder). There's also some oil around there, similar to a leaking rocker cover, except the rocker itself...
No breather reroute but I was going do one. I'll try to check the PCV valve and pinched line at the same time, but it's so tight in there!
Couldn't tell, but it was maybe 1/4 cup of oil, all over the right seat rail, and swingarm.
Anything I should tear down and check just in case?
how do I do that?
2008 xb12s with high flow filter, race ECM and race exhaust, around 16K miles. I recently did an oil change like usual, nothing wrong in the process, new filter and exact quantities of oil used...
