And I thank you for that. I suppose I took your other comments as a personal insult, which I shouldn't have done. Sorry about that.
The part about the tank having a drain plug. I just had a moment when the bike was opened apart and determined the issue was with the fuel pump, I just got stuck wondering how to get the fuel out. I...
I didn't go through all the steps just to disconnect the fuel injector fuel line, I had disconnected that line when troubleshooting the fuel pump previously. You seem to draw negative conclusions...
Why the hostility? I didn't refuse to do it, I just didn't know about the drain plug.
And don't worry, I can drain a bathtub just fine.
Does anyone have a "best practice" for draining the fuel tank?
I can drain a bit just by disconnecting the fuel hose from the injector housing, but it's slow and potentially messy.
Does anyone here run the XB-SG with the barometric sensor? Is it worth the added expense?
I appreciate all the advice.
I have an A-frame ladder somewhere, LOL about the bike tail being lighter than most Americans (hey, I'm working on it!).
Here in Omaha we're about to head into the...
It'll probably take a while before I can pull the pump. Nowhere to lift the rear as my garage doesn't have accessible rafters, but I can probably figure something out sooner or later.
Crazy thing...
So it seems like I'm having a fuel pump issue on my 2009 XB12Ss.
I started my bike up yesterday, and after about 1-2 minutes of idling the engine died and will not start.
- I hear the pump run...
What am I looking at? The throttle?
It looks like a vacuum line that was abraded away due to being under tension and vibration - can you zoom out a smidge?
The pipe is the one that Buell used for the catalytic muffler, which we in the US did not get. It's the exhaust pipe that will not work with the Uylsees comfort kit/right-hand air duct.
I guess by the front exhaust pipe you are not in the USA.
I would start troubleshooting by first looking at your air filter. Is it clean? Next look at your spark plugs and spark plug wires. Then...
OK, so to answer my own questions, here's what I've discovered:
This handlebar with these 2" risers that are clamped by the stock bar clamp are about as high/wide as you can go with mostly stock...
I don't like to bash anyone's life decisions, but that stuff and 2A are enough to keep me from living in CA.
Shame as CA was beautiful the couple times I've visited.
Huh, I never noticed when I lived there, and I rode bikes in H-Town too. I lived in the south suburb parts, maybe that was the difference. At the least Houston doesn't have potholes on the freeways....
I'm 5'10" as well. Unfortunately for me Buell did not make a 2009 XB12S. I had an 04 XB12S, the handling was great and I prefer the slightly more compact look compared to the SS. I did not want an...
Come to Nebraska, they said!
The weather's not so bad, they said!
But yeah, I might need to get a Uly cable. I'll try looking under the fly screen after this hangover subsides...:black_eyed:
So I got some 2" risers and some motocross-style fatbar handlebars.
At the moment I'm working on the clutch lever and I'm not sure how much slack is available. I managed to get an extra 1" on the...
I got the following from Dave @ Buelltooth:
So it looks like for my needs the -ST or -GT would fit the bill. For anyone who has the Supertrapp muffler, how many discs are y'all running? It...
The Bob, is the SG a glasspack muffler or is it just using internal baffles?
My main concern is if it needs repacking, I can see no way to do so.
I was thinking of either the cone style for $395, or the squared-off style for $225.
The cheaper Supertrapp-style muffler isn't bad at $250.
I was leery of Supertrapp as back in the 80s/90s they...
I searched the forum and I didn't find a whole lot. Couple threads, one said he had one and another said they were thinking about it.
Is their exhaust quite loud? I don't like how quiet the stock...
Wow, this blew up! :black_eyed: Heh, I meant to ask kind of off-handedly, but I'm surprised at how much parts support is still available for XBs.
Cooter, I'll probably hit you up when I'm ready -...
I used to own a XB12S about 9-10 years ago, back then there was a kit to mount a single-piston Brembo caliper behind the swingarm.
Does it still exist, or can you fabricobble your own?
