I have a 04 XB9S (cheap 2nd hand) that has had crank failure @ 40000 Kms however as I was stripping it there was a great deal of 03 tags on all the parts ;v( will be rebuilding with 1.5" crank etc.
I have shorties on my XB9S, from PO, always had normal length levers on my bikes before that, got to admit it surprised me to the point will probably put some shorties on my TL1000R as well.02c.

Have you checked temp sensor to ensure it is reading in correctly? Voltage v temp get raw figures just to clarify output via manual.
