Well it appears my stator bit the dust. Things were going great until I was met with a dead battery after a long ride and test continuity to ground on each of the yellow wires coming from the stator...
Even if it's just a waste of $60 at least I spent some time in the garage! Hopefully the posts will be useful as parts for the buells get harder to find
Sh775 wiring plugs

Adapter harness made with correct Deutsch DTP 2-Pin Male/Female Kit 10-12AWG (eBay) and...
Got the regulator all put on the buell. Very happy with the outcome! Nice steady 13.5v now :)
I'll attach some pics of the install soon. I made a plug and play harness, but did upgrade the 77...
Turns out there's a Harley cross reference to the SH775 regulator as well (part# 4012941) which is a SH775BB regulator for a 2014-2017 Harley XG500. I've got one in the mail and will report back on...
Update on the regulator: the unit I received is not the SH775 type regulator, so do not use one from an 05 Outlander. It appears in newer years ~2013 they started using the sh775 type, but the older...
Does anyone know if I'm able to buy parts for my seat latch lock? It appears at some point the PO disassembled the back of my lock, and lost the little arm you hook the cable into. I have the lock,...
Did the tach and speedometer cut out when this happened? I ask because I had a similar issue and it was my kickstand switch. Bike just quit out of nowhere.
Yeah I usually blip it if it doesnt pop over right away. Usually it pops immediately and idles away, way better than my ninja did!
I'm going to upgrade the 77 connector while I'm doing wiring, so...
Well I decided to be the guinea pig! I bought a used voltage regulator to try to test as a good upgrade to the Buell. Heard of too many Harley's and Buells eating stators so I figured why not take a...
I figured it's just a big twin thing, was just wondering. Reminds me of the 2 stroke MX bikes when you're cruising just below getting on the pipe. I checked the full sweep of the tps and didn't see...
All grounds are cleaned, and extras between the frame, engine and ecu are all tied into the battery. It just seems odd that the battery was fairly dead (bike cranked slow) and when I tested voltage...
Well let it charge overnight, took it out and let it warm up and tested voltage when I got back, at 2k I'm getting a tad over 13v vs idle of 12.5v. So it does appear to be working. I'm wondering now...
From what I've read the newer style mosfet (still shunt) are a lot easier on the windings due to a better efficiency in the switching electronics. I'll have to investigate other ones as well.
The...
Rode it around some and it seems to be keeping the battery charged. I'm going to replace the VR anyways because it's probably on it's way out, and I think I'm going to switch to a newer bikes one,...
Those are stator readings btw. So it looks like that's checking out good. Could it then be the voltage regulator? And if it is should I leave it unplugged so it doesn't fry the stator?
I'm getting 15v ac at idle, around 25ish at 2k between each of the 3 pins in the connector in front of the drive pulley. Tried every combination with my meter and didn't see any differences between...
Got the new wheel bearings in the front, and the weird diving / turning is gone. The old ones were pretty crusty. Newest problem is the bike isn't charging so that's a bummer! I'll be trying to...
Definitely good to know! I'll be staying off it until then. It has maybe a mm or two of wiggle room in it, and sounds dry and crumbly. I have all balls waiting to go in this weekend.
On the topic...

No huge updates, but I popped the kickstand switch off and lubed it up with some silicone spray, seems to move a lot more freely and stay closed when I ride. The steering head bearings definitely...
Pics of the steering g head bearings replacement. Bearings were real pitted and gummy

I'm not sure if it covers all the XB's honestly. I don't believe so though. From what I could find on the forum, there was a later speed sensor that incorporated a voltage regular, but for all I know...
Mine is supplying 12v at the moment. I'm tempted to install a regulator to drop it down to 5v, at $54 a pop I don't want to be replacing them a lot
