Weren't you looking for one of these?

Dude, that was hilarious and awesome. Must have taken forever to make.
Do what I did and go to Autozone and rent their loaner tool. It's not called a bearing puller, but it functions like a slide hammer with expandable end pieces that fit inside the bearings. It worked...
I can only say that would be quite a benefit to any motorcyclist! :tongue-new:
Barrett, thanks for that advice. I think you are the dose of realism I need in order to balance Cooter's unrelenting optimism. Neither of which are bad things!
I'll need to look into it further...
I think that's what I'll be going for. Nothing too crazy, just a nice relaxed rebuild. No doubt, you'll hear form me on this subject at a later date. Appreciate the advice, Gentlemen!
I'm glad we live so far apart.
I don't consider myself hosed. I can remove the front and rear isolators at least, and part out the rest, probably making back the original $250, don't you think?
But I might just decide to...
Well, I can't post the videos, because I actually don't own something that can read a micro SD card at the moment. However, I can say for certain the this engine will not run. The rear cylinder and...
Boom, done. Like I needed another excuse to buy one of these. I got one with the screen built in, because I'd rather drop a $40 gadget in the garage than my (admittedly cheap, but still relatively...
Thanks Barrett.
As it happens, I already have a spare set of headers and a race muffler. Then I found this decent looking XB9R fuel tank/frame on Facebook marketplace for $250 shipped to me,...
We'll... true enough!
After comparing with the vin on my 05 City X, it looks to be from an '03 Lightning. I took Barrett's info to mean that the 5th number in the engine code was the year number,...
Just got it home.

Looks like this is the engine code:

I was lucky enough to notice an XB9S motor being sold near me for local pickup only on ebay. I submitted an offer and won it for $250. I have no ideas if the motor is any good, or the mileage on it,...
Thanks! I have considered going that route to avoid tire changes as much as possible, and I don't really ride very sporty at all. The Pilots have made my short list for the next time.
A perfect moment for the classic DOH.
Speaking of dumb stuff, I don't actually own an electric air pump, aside from the small one I keep for my wife's car that isn't fast enough at pumping air to...
I got it done. I tried to do it Barretts way, but my tool making skills are quite limited, and I wasn't able to file my punch sharp enough to get a good grip on the bearing edge.
Finally I went...
Well, good news and bad news. The tires are in, but I have not been able to get these bearings out. They are really stuck in there. I need to visit an autozone to see if they have a blind bearing...
As always, I appreciate the wealth of knowledge, Barrett.
I'll install them myself. Hopefully, I'll get it done tonight so I can put the new tire on tomorrow. Will update if there are issues. I...
Yep, I agree, DozerBoy. The bearing set arrived already, so I'll see if I can install them before the tires come in. It's only got 8000 miles on it, so I think these are probably the original...
Thanks for all of the help, guys. I'm betting my pinch bolt is 3/8. I tried a 10mm hex key, and it would not fit, and an 8mm was too small. I'' have to run out and grab one.
I got the tire off...
A little construction debris ended up in my rear tire this weekend.

:sorrow:
So I purchased some Shinko Ravens to replace the front and rear. Decided to go ahead and remove the rear and...
That's the one to get if money is no object. I wish mine had the black frame, too.
I've been considering selling my beautiful blue '05 Lightning City Cross with 8k miles and a lot of goodies. :sorrow: Nothing wrong with it, I'm just a fickle man about motorcycles.
I'm in North...
Cooter, thanks so much for posting this. Valuable information for those of us who are mere mechanics by necessity, not by trade.
