As a first time oil changer on my XB, I recently went through the same quandry about after-change oil level reading. I posted on here about it previously.

here's what I found - put in 2.5 quarts...

no, I did not change brake pads. they are the original pads. the bike has 7000 miles on it and I am the original owner.
