Clutch felt fine, until there was a snap and the clutch was gone. I was wondering if I had it adjusted too tight, given that this happened again so quickly.
Joel, thanks for the info - PM sent to...
I thought I broke my clutch cable both times, but after getting back to the garage, it turns out that part of the inside of the primary cover has snapped off, usually causing damage to the clutch hub...
Just ran into this problem myself. Any luck finding a solution?
Thanks for the suggestions, looks like I'll be giving it a go Monday morning. Hopefully all goes well.
Hey,
I've been away from home for work for a couple of months and recently talked my company into shipping my motorcycle to me, which they went for :). Unfortunately, my rear bearings just failed,...
Anrkizm,
is that a splice, or did you replace the entire hose? I can't see the splice anywhere, if it is a splice. To splice it do you just use some hose clamps and a brass hose splicer?
I live in Hawaii . . . 365 days of prime riding weather a year :)
Do you have a pic showing how you have that hose routed now?
anrkism, when you said remove starter and install next size down, do you mean the next size down hose? Would it be hard to replace the entire length of hose rather than splice in a new piece?

As I was replacing my belt, I noticed a hose that runs very near the exhaust header that looks pretty cooked. I have no idea what this hose is for, but should I be worried about this?

Sweet. Thanks.
Got the new belt installed tonight. It's really tight tho. I hope that's just how they are when new. Also, how do I tell if the belt is a "lifetime" belt, or one of the old 15k replace belts?

When I first bought my lightning, I was having a similar problem. It would run, and randomly die on me. It wouldn't start for 15 minutes or so, then it would start up fine. Not sure if it's the same...
I use a Vortex stand that I bought at a local motorcycle shop.

Sorry to hear about the crash. That sounds like a painful one. Hopefully you bounce back quickly. Glad you survived.
Right on. Thanks to you guys, I just completed my first brake pad change. Scared the crap out of me when it wouldn't go back on the caliper, but I had no idea the bracket was moveable. Tomorrow I'm...
Once again you have saved my ass Anrkizm! Thanks.
Thanks for the replies. I pressed the piston as far in as I could before I put the pads back on there. The left one is slanted in a little in the pic, but when I was trying to put it on I was holding...
I decided to change the brake pads while I wait for my new belt to come in. Only problem is that I can't figure out how to get the caliper to fit back over the rotor with the new thicker pads...
Hmmm. I wonder which one my HD dealer ordered for me. I just asked for a belt for my 05 Lightning. Maybe next time I should specify for an 07?
Will the 07 belt fit on my 05, or is there a difference?
Jeep. I looked at my belt frequently, and never saw any signs that led me to believe it was going to snap. I think 15k is pretty low, but then again, mine was just under 25k when it snapped. What...
RT, thanks for the step by step. Definitely makes it sound easier than it looks.
I was planning on doing the rear break pads since I'm going to have it apart. Didn't think about the bearings. What's involved when you say doing the bearings? Does that mean replacing them, or just...
I guess I was lucky that it snapped about a half mile from home.
