I just got back from my first ride of the season and man does it every feel great to be riding again after a lackluster snowmobile season. Anyway I was riding my 08 12Ss and noticed the engine light comes on every so often and there is a slight hesitation in power. I stored the bike in my basement and never removed any gas from it or removed the battery. I did have to boost it to get it to turn over. Any thoughts on the light issue?

if u had to boost it; chances are its not fully charged & all the loads are draining it little by little.

I had the same problem with my XT. It eventually would die on the road and start back up. Dealer said there was a service bulletin for a ground screw/point somewhere. It was basically not making full contact and would vibrate loose and kill the motor.

Where you riding fast on a hot day, really revving the motor. Was the fan running?
Sounds like you were hitting the skip spark safety mode with the motor over heating.

I always start with the easiest and progress to the harder:

Use ECMSpy or the Wire Jumper method to see if there's any codes. Check the battery under load @ any Autoparts store for free. If it's good, take it home & charge it. While you're at it, check your grounds to make sure they're all tightened well & check your spark plugs for good measure. Then try to get a tank of fresh gas in it after running out the winter gas. Then post up if still having problems.

It wasn't running hot being my first ride of the year and wearing winter clothing. Temps outside were 5 degrees Celsius.
