The age-old arguement of Buells versus high-revving 4-cylinders....

If you're into bright flashy Icon jackets, wearing your helmet like a hat, and hanging out in Wawa parking lots with your "crew", a Buell might not be the bike for you.

The buell stock ECU cuts power at speed if you hold it over a certain amount of time at WOT. So that also makes it hard to reach high speed. Once my new motor is finished close to 150 ish should be possible... 9r crank 88ci pistons and cyl. stiffer valve springs to help with valve float. Now i just have to get the new cams in... I am hoping for 8k redline with 12r stock gearing..

I raced a 636, a buddy of mine Sunday, and left him behind. At about 155mph he was about 30 yards behind according to my shaky ass mirrors. Yes the 600's are faster than the xb's but not the 1125's. I still love the xb's don't get me wrong.

Yeahbut, my XB FEELS LIKE a hot-rod!
As street rider, I seldom ride faster than 70 - 80 mph.

I have no problem keeping up with the 1000CC bikes on my 1125, until about 150 or so, but then I back off 150 is scary.

We're slower at the top end. My XB runs just fine with my buddies CBR600RR in "real world" sport riding. Light to light, I kill him. It's not even funny because I'm smoking him so badly in the quarter mile type stuff. On the highway, he pulls away right around where it gets highly illegal. If we took it to the track, he'd beat me on the long straights every time.

I-4s need that little bit of time to "wind up". Once they're wound up, they're friggen fast. V-twin power is damn near instant. Only drawback is our XB V-twins only wind up to about 7k and then they're done.

Hey I have actually hung out at Wawa's with my Buddys on several occasions with my Buell... I just always seem to be the center of attraction :p
Nothing wrong with that? I dont discriminate against anyone on any bike. 2 wheels and you can hang with me any time. but yes My buell does not fare well when we jump onto the highway and everyone decided to do constant 120 mph the whole way. I just catch up to them later and enjoy the ride.
