I would be interested in this also.
I have an 03 xb9s and a few bikes on here look lowered.
Is there much to doing it?
Does anyone have a thread?
Does it affect performance/handling?

i know you can loosen some stuff on the triple trees and slide it down or something...i think extremelow did this as well as a few others.
yeah extremelow would be the guy to ask...
I think he had a SS swingarm on his R along with a lightning tail to further inhance the look and if memory serves me correctly he had a piece made that allowed him to mate the shock with the SS swingarm...
def a 'hotrod' look
:)
i dont want to F around with swingarm swaps or anything like that. i like how stubby my bike is stock, just want to lower it a bit.
You can get the xb9sl or xb12scg forks and rear shock. You could buy everything new and lower it for around $1000.
One just sold on ebay. I THINK this is what you need.
Search: Buell lowering spring kit in completed auctions.
(I haven't figured out how to post a link)
yes one did just sell on ebay and i won the auction! booyah, i will let you know how everything works out with the swap
i wouldnt be dropping your forks through. the rake on a buell is already extreme. dropping your forks through some more will make it more so.
best option is to swap out your suspension for that of a Scg model. the buell factory optin.
so front forks, rear shock, side stand, and with an 03 you will probably need the lower front clamp.
see here a vid of us doing this mod to my lady's buell...

The lowered bikes you're seeing came that way from the factory. (xb9sl, xb12scg). Basically they just have short travel front and rear suspension (1" lower) and a lower seat. Aside from that they are identical to the standard xb9 or xb12. Less suspension travel typically goes hand in hand with a rougher ride, but these bikes were setup for smaller people who are generally lighter to begin...
