down shifted to a stopsign and went to go and there was no power, i thought something broke in the tranny until i looked down and saw the belt laying on the ground. It broke around 4k
So, what were the conditions of when your belt(s) have broken on an 2003 XB? I have 4k on my "updated" belt and am curious as to what was going on when yours broke. Was it on takeoff? Cruising? Acceleration?
I plan on doing the 2004 upgrade over the winter, MAYBE before. The guy I purchased mine from put on the updated part...G0500.02A8R. Are these actually better than the former belts that originally came on the 2003 XB's?

Had a '04+ belt break on me but it had a small tear and I was in the midst of popping a wheelie
I was pulling into a gas station with very little throttle. 7700 miles on original belt.
So most breaks are at low speed then I take it??? I kind of worry about it at speed on the freeway.
If it slaps you, it will hurt like hell, but other wise the only thing you would notice is a lose of power. Not likely to cause many other issues.
I have seen the aftermath pictures of when some of the teeth strip out... not pretty
its about the same as pulling in the clutch and letting it snap back without lifting off the throttle.
