How hard is this to replace? At .6 hours shop rate, I'm not sure it's worth having someone else replace it, put through a warranty claim with a few other little issues, or just do it myself.

looks fairly easy man pull the lever off unplug the switch and unscrew it no scanner avail or I'd scan the service manual for ya or you can download one from the service manual link just below the banner at the top of the page

Why would you pay for it if its covered under warranty? Might as well get all your issues tied up at once.

I just put the paperwork through from the previous owner to transfer the extended warranty to me. I'm in the 1-2 wk limbo here before I get any paperwork, but HD told me there was a $50 deductible for any warranty work? For all the vehicles I've owned, I've never made a warranty claim, so I don't know what is/isn't covered or any other details. Any ideas?

I've had a few warranty items fixed, never cost me a cent. Are there different rules in the states as opposed to Canada? Wayne

You dont have to take the lever off from what i remember. You just unscrew it from the bottom, and unplug it. It takes about 30 seconds to do it.

mine was acting up, i cleaned it with some contact cleaner, gave it a good WD40 soaking..and been working perfect for a while now.

i think theyre susceptible to road grime in there where the little hole is.

The local HD offered to give me a store credit for the work - maybe the deductible only applies once you move on to the extended warranty after factory warranty expires? Either way, I have a few small parts to replace/fix, so for $50 and a store credit, they can get it done. Thanks for the replies!
