I switched to full synthetic Mobil 1 on the first service.
I went into a NON Harley Davidson shop to buy oil and a oil filter, The shop had the correct oil filter on the Shelf and then asked me the age of the bike and if it was water cooled. Now being the good salesman he was sold me fully synthetic Shell Helix Ultra 10w = 40 technology motor oil for the 1125.
The question is yes / no to using fully synthetic oil

Mobil 1 since first oil change...should hit 12,000 miles by Thursday (06 24), no oil related problems.

49 miles to go and I'll be ready for the 600 mile break in service. Amsoil 20W50 ready to go in.
I'd use Amsoil myself, EBR just inked the 3 year deal with them for sponsorship. I've been an Amsoil user/dealer for a couple of years now also, so I'm slightly biased.
I just bought Castrol Syntec 4T V Twin oil, it will go in both case and primary today or tomorrow. Use regular Syntec the last time and it was real good.
oil related question. A high performance garage mechanic and i were talking and he said he switches oil brand (not weight) every oil change. he saw some studies that the oil is from the same place but each company uses different detergents. he exclaimed that sense doing so when he takes his motor apart for rebuild it has been cleaner then he has ever seen. any one like to weigh in on this?
snythetic only engines are cleaner the oil doesn't break down like crude dino oil.
never tried using differn't kinds.
I find what i like and stick with it.
Not sure why but reccomend weight for v-twins is 20-50 for summer rides
