Start with a TPS reset.
I really hope there wasn't too much gatorade left in that bottle...sugar is bad news for engines.
I just started having problems idling with my 2007 lightning. 7100 miles
If I start it up it runs for about 5 secs fine but then slowly starts to die. It really tries to keep running for a good 20 seconds but you can hear and feel the engine reving slower and slower.
So a few things.
-Changed the plugs at 6000 miles.
-Ran out of gas at the last refill... that was fun
-The key switch 15amp fuse blew a couple of days ago. Replaced
-It's past due for an oil change, 4100 miles since last change
-Checked battery connections & frame connections. All are very tight
-The check engine light is not on
I'm not sure if any of those are contributing to the problem.
So upon the initial start I can rev the throttle a bit and keep in going. After 5 minutes of riding or so everything is fine, no stalling.
I have not done a TPS reset since I bought the bike new. I have not touched the idle speed adjustment.
I'll probably start with a TPS reset on Monday.
Bad gas? When I ran out of gas I walked to the gas station and bought a gatorade and used that bottle to fill gas. There was maybe a tiny bit of gatorade left in the bottle when I filled it.
Fouled plugs?
Start with a TPS reset.

Very very little.. like maybe 2 or 3 drops. I shook the bottle out as best as I could.
