Don't be sorry - these are good questions. You never know and it doesn't hurt to ask. Unplugging the fuel pump and turning on the key does not blow a fuse. It does register a fault code - 33 | fuel pump short to ground, which we would expect.Originally Posted by Silverrider

So, after putting in the new fuse and plugging the pump back in, I turn on the key and the pump primes but did not blow a fuse. I hit the kill switch - off, then on and now blow. I did this two more times, pump primes (whining like it always did) and no blow. When I start the bike however, it runs for 10 seconds and then the fuse blows.

It does sound like it time to pop your pump out, Drop your shock, lower the swing arm and out it comes, you can make a puller or be careful and pry it out with a couple of flat tip screw drivers as I have done,

That is such a drastic different in price VS an OEM fuel pump. Simply amazing. Is it the same in every way in terms of functionality?
Don't open the package on that new pump until you pull and inspect the old one. Could be a case of chaffed wires in the pump assembly. If that's the case, you can repair the wires and be back on the road for nothing more than an afternoon in the garage. Mine had the same problem as yours, the pump would run with the engine off but blow the fuse when the engine was running. The wires must not have been touching anything in their own, but engine vibration made them touch some metal and short curcuit. This is what mine looked like when I pulled it out. Bike is an 07 and had about 13k on it at the time. You may still need a replacement pump after all, but don't unwrap the new one until you rule out the famous chaffed wires. If the old pump is salvageable you can return that expensive new one.

That would be the chaffed wire in the fuel pump..... I believe heat shrink is the accepted solution.
I am intrigued by this dirt cheap aftermarket replacement though. On the product description it claims 20% more flow... Is there some potential for hp gains there??? lol

Interested in this pump too if in fact mine is toast once I pull it out. I did not see (or can't see) a model for 2010.
It would be great if the old pump could be tested while in the bike but I have not come across anything on google.
