Could some take a look at that clip next to the front header and show me how it is oriented on your bike? No matter which way I go, the cable ends up scrubbing on the frame or the right fork tube or both.

The scrubbing is bad enough I have a notch worn into the cable from the frame and soon I'll be seeing the metal sheath on the fork side.

mine has a diff bracket, its still not ideal. as its to close to the header. see if you can make one with wire or something.

Slit a clear vinyl tube length-wise. Install at wear points to protect your clutch cable assembly.

Some movement is causing cable sheath/jacket to wear?
    My XB12R has pictured route.
@ 10k miles there's hardly a mark on its clutch cable jacket at the frame or fork tube contact points.
Its cable is retained in a wire loop at engine-head, not a clamp.

kalifornia, you have the factory upgrade bracket. I just got the bracket you have cause i had the same bracket as Livers has in his first pic. Everyone should upgrade theirs to that bigger bracket to prevent ruining their cable. Mine burnt up against the header costing me $63 to replace cable.

Thanks for looking guys - update the bracket, got it! I have a new cable as a spare, it's got much more sheathing in that area than the stocker. Just need the new bracket - anyone have the part number handy?

that "factory upgrade" aint worth squat really. it barely holds the cable off the header as is. My bike had clear film glued on the fork and frame. you're gonna get some rubbing somewhere. Livers I'de just get a longer bolt and shim your current bracket. Or make a tasty stainless wire bracket

Yeah, tasty stainless would be good. And you're right Kali, looks like it's gonna rub somewhere no matter what you do. Since I have the new cable with much more sheathing I'll try them both and see how it looks. It appears the factory saw the problem and attempted a fix.

Edited to say that your cable is a lot closer to the pipe than mine - which way do you have your lower clamp oriented?
