Thread: what might be the problem?

So here is an electric problem I'm looking to fix. I was riding when the bike felt like it wouldn't throttle. I look down at dash and gauges are off and no lights. I pull off and the bike shuts off. Headlight still on. I turn on, the needles go up and down and lights go throught normal sequence. I turn over and bike makes clicking sound. I take it to harley, they tell me my battery was drained. Ok. Recharge and the bike rides well for 25 some miles. Then same thing. I replace battery and the bike rides well for 30miles then dies again. Same thing. I have new spark plugs so I doubt fouled plug. Seems electrical, but not sure what it may be. Harley said bike checked out welll. Need help to figure out problem.

Search the forum, your problem was posted several times.
    Check regulator , stator , ’77 connector’ , short...
There's alot of info how to check that and Buell Service Manual has a good Diagnostics/Troubleshooting section.

I had the same thing happen to my bike. It turned out to be a bad voltage regulator
