Exhaust valve mod question

I have read the posting on the exhaust valave mod and I figure id give it a shot while I have the airbox off of my bike. I am looking but I dont see where the parts are that they are talking about in this post are

Could it be that my model (2003 XB9S) doesnt have the same valve that newer ones do?

the xb9's (all years) don't have an exhaust valve.
