If I buy an airbox that does not have the vent above the gas cap, can I remove the vent from my current airbox and 'pop' it into the new one?
Yes you can, but its more than just a pop it in place swap. The peice is held in by melted plastic plugs....you will have to cut these plugs loose with a razor blade to remove the old peice. A good plasti weld epoxy can be bought at you local hardware or auto parts store to reattach the new vent peice.(I have used loctite brand before with good results).
Thank you. My translucid cover has a cracked tab and needs to be replaced. Knowing it is possible to insert the vent gives me a wider selection for replacement.
The translucid plastics may be more dificult to work with due to them being a harder plastic, but if your looking at the solid non translucid covers then you have nothing to worry about.
