Do you mean an upgrade from 1125 to 1190..?
Anybody ever talk to EBR about 1190 up-grade..how much,i'm not talking about the bikes he sells..:p
Do you mean an upgrade from 1125 to 1190..?
yes
I read an article (can't remember which one) where Erik said that that's how they were being made...they still get the 1125 engine from Rotax, then they tear it down and rebuild to the 1190 specs.
It involved titanium connecting rods and I think valves as well (for a higher rev limit). And of course cylinders and pistons. Other than that I can't remember what else was done.
To me that sounds expensive...
At least there shouldn't be any shortage of 1125 pistons, cylinders and connecting rods any time soon
The 1190 is $44,000 I bet the upgrade cost more then the stock 1125 at full retail
I heard it from a fairly reliable source that the 1190 "kit" consisting of pistons, wristpins and cylinders will come in at a somewhat reasonable price. I'm not under an NDA or anything, but I will not steal their thunder on the pricing. Bolt on 20+ hp is just a guesstimate for power. I'm sure that extra fuel would be required, so a race ecm would be a must have item also.
It will be one of the upgrades I'll end up doing to my bike. The 1190 kit and one of my custom pipes, I can see hitting 160+ hp at the wheel, easy. I'm almost to 140 as it is with just the pipe alone, so it's not a huge jump.
1190 wouldnt be worth 44,000 even if he had a 2 for one deal.your better off getting a bmw,ktm,600rr and drop 5-6 grand into a buell.
2011 1198 R Corse Price $39,995.00
Performance
Horsepower (bhp): 180 bhp
Torque (Ft Lbs): 99 lbs
Sure, it's a tad cheaper, but I'd take the Buell if I had the $$ to buy one. $45k for a pure race bike, it's not out of line when you compare what they are. Besides, the 1190 puts 185+ hp to the ground, not at the crank.
On a side note, I'll probably never race mine (well, track day, etc.) again, so the 1190 wouldn't really be a wise purchase for me. I'd love to have one nonetheless.
