I would just go with the stock HD battery. I guess mainly due the vibrations that you get with the XB, you'd hope that HD would put 1 in there that can handle that. Cold cranking amps is another thing that you will need to look at if you go with an aftermarket.

I replaced mine with an HD battery almost 18 months ago or longer and it's been great. Don't know about the SCG's but the 9 and 12R's are a real tight fit and some times other brands may have fitment issues.

I run the stock H-D batteries in mine . One is 2 yrs old and the other is 1 1/2 yrs old , these came with my bikes and have had no issues. I do however keep them hooked up to the battery tender, so that may explain their longevity. Also found that the H-D batteries were priced lower than the after market japanese brands , at least in my area.

Stock or gel battery. Gel last a lot longer so I hear, but more expensive. Cheap fill batteries don't usually last or have enough cranking power.

thanks for posting this it reminded me i have to get a new battery next month. my battery is the original HD battery 5 years old, time to replace it.
it wont be a HD for the fact I no longer support or want anything to do with HD (unless I absolutelty have no other choice).

Can anyone confirm the HD part number?

I found 65948-00 but Surdyke has two parts with that number:

65948-00A
65948-00

My local HD said $115 with me bringing in the old battery. Some core charge. *shrug*

I did not confirm the part number with them.

I too have a 2009 XB12Sg.
