I'll just put the LI in my firebolt and keep the old school in my Ulysses. When it gets that cold I'm usually on the uly with heated grips and gear anyway. Also on the uly I'm not as worried about cutting the weight and it doesn't help I can't afford two. It's a little over $300 for one with charger/maintainer.

no, keep shopping.. you can find that battery for about 180 and the charger I found it for 60 I think it was.... And YOU DONT really need the charger right away. A lot of guys don't buy that charger until they accidently leave the ignition on or something and drain it because its the only charger the battery will respond to. The battery comes charged right out of the box with a 70% charge I think it was. Just make sure its the absolute correct model for a XB12. Its the same Shorai that came stock with the 1190 and I think the Ducati top of the line came with either a Shorai or something very similar. Its not a normal LI battery... its not cells its a mesh matrix.

here man, on sale for 176 the one you need is LFX21A6-BS12 just double check but the link below should be a LFX21A6-BS12

here is the charger 62 bucks

when you get the charger its got a manual with it.. its controlled by a computer and does diagnostics and maintenance on the battery also. You can also put the battery into a "deep sleep" type mode if you want to put the bike into long term storage.. the battery will fire right up after sitting for years as long as it was plugged in.. the manual will tell you all about it.

I've been using batterymart.com for three bikes, no problems yet.
reasonable prices, usually free shipping for motorcycles,
less than a week to get to my door.

Just bought a Duracell AGM for about $100 at the local Batteries Plus store and it cranks well.

Curiosity finally got to me when I had some extra cash and I picked one up for my 09 firebolt. Let me just say that you definitely tell the battery has an extra 95CCA vs the stock battery. I was amazed at how fast my bike fired up. And also the weight difference is pretty substantial. If you really get your bike going into multiple corners you will feel if flip from side to side like never before. After everything is said and done I would never go back to a regular battery on my firebolt.

Thanks for backing me up on that Bambam.. I'm super happy with my Shorai so far and I like it a lot better than my old Ballistic LI. Its a whole different ballgame. Its not going to be for everyone, especially if you live in a real cold climate but for mild or hot climate, so far its BANGIN'... lets see how winter goes. According to everyone else that has one, they perform in the cold a lot better than the Ballistic .. we shall see.
