Ok, so I got a cable and downloaded ecmspy from this site well, someone on this site anyway, and every time I try to connect it just tells me "failed to get com port". Can anyone help me get this stupid thing working? I using Windows XP, if that matters and my ecmspy version is 1.12.26. I got the driver from the disc that came with the cable. I can't remember the version on that one.
    HELP PLEASE!

I would definitely uninstall that driver for the cable and install a different one. I'm not 100% sure where I got mine, but I can email you a copy of the driver I used if you'd like. Buellmods.com *might* also have the driver as a download.

Figured it out. The cable I got off of e-bay was not assembled very well. The pins were not pushed all the way locked into the connector so it wasn't getting full contact with the diagnostic plug.
Just did a TPS reset and saved the stock eeprom and fuel tables.

As a side thought, is it possible to tell if the bike has the race computer (or race map) already in it from looking at the fuel tables or such? I did notice that the active muffler control was already turned off.

thanks for the offer to help guys

Um....good question, but sorry that I don't have answer on the race ecm other than looking at the ecm itself.

Oh - and no problem on the help. Anytime.

Yeah, I'm just too lazy to pull the fairing off to look. My garage is unheated and it's REALLY cold right now.:D

I feel you. At least the only two "non-heated" sides are the neighbors garage (duplex home) and of course the garage door. Once you get working though it's not too bad.

    yes
see if the ecm says for race use only on it or
open a second ecmspy window with the race map for that year and see if it matches your maps in the first original window, if not try other years race maps in the second window. hope that is understandable.

Shouldn't the "Calibration ID" identify the ECM as race or on-road?
On-road (stock) ECMs usually have an ID such as "49:US", while every Race ECM I have seen has something like "106:P&A".

I checked the fuel maps and mine seems to be the same as the race map (pretty nice that you can run 2 instances of ecmspy at the same time). If it's not a race ECM someone mapped it the same. All the same to me.
