    Ok am I reading this correctly? The xb12 is just a stroked version of an xb9? What am I missing here?

    Yup, xb12's extra displacement is from the extra crankshaft stroke. Stock bores are the same, BUT the pistons are different between the xb12 and xb9 to set the compression ratio. SO if you use xb9 pistons in a xb12 you increase the compression ratio.
