    Aftermarket exhaust and jets.

Get a Jardine system, then when the can burns out its packing, replace the can with a 4" Supertrapp w/ 18 discs (retain the Jardine header) and you have the best off-the-shelf system still available.

Use 45/175 jets with the idle mix screw 2.75 turns out from soft-bottom.

thanks for the feedback, I'm trying to go the cheap route, looks like no matter what ill be dropping the bones on an aftermarket exhaust and ill probably take it to the shop for the jets so its done right

That's not "done right". Use the jet combination I said, it's a tried and true combination.

    This is who I am:

...and there's other guys with just as much knowledge as I have about these engines that will tell you the exact same thing.

well I wasn't saying that jet combination was wrong. I will follow those specs when I rejet I've taken apart plenty of carbs on older bikes, atv's, atc's, lawn mowers, etc.. i just know how easy it is to make a mistake durring a diy carb alteration, This is my first go round on a modern 'sport' bike
