I just changed engine and trans oil today. It was really easy after watching the video on YouTube. Lots of info. I used the Mobil 1 vtwin 20/50. It was 12$ a qt. I was gonna use the royal purple but it's 18$ a qt. I couldn't afford a 85$ oil change with the filter. I got all my stuff at advance auto parts.

I'm belong to to Facebook community for this site...we JUST had this conversation! Lol Some dude was ADAMANT that you should only use the factory service manual's requirement of Harley's "Formula +"...So I caved in to temptation and toyed around with this guy for hours...IT WAS A RIOT!! Bottom line... GOOD QUALITY OIL + PROPER PRIMARY ADJUSTMENT + PROPER CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT = BETTER SHIFTING! I don't doubt some work better than others, but for the most part any QUALITY oil that is meets the requirements for the primary will be fine. Personally, I use Amsoil in the engine and Belray Gear Saver #80 in the primary. It works fine...I may switch to Amsoil in both holes now that I get it wholesale...it's a lot cheaper for me now.

I would never pay $12 a quart for oil...I pay 9 bucks for Amsoil from the local Duc/EBR/Triumph dealer :) Oh - and I got the Bosch filter for 5.xx shipped from Amazon - and it was next day :)

arikam ....... the 20/50 Mobil 1 here is just under $10 a quart ... and the only guy for miles and miles and miles that I know of that sells Amsoil lets it go for about $10.50 a quart ... wherever you are is charging a fair bit more than here ...

and gas is back down to ~$3.80 a gallon for 93 down here ... ~$3.30 for 87 ...

Send a PM to noone1569. His name is Ryan, he is an Amsoil dealer on the forum. I've purchased from him before. He'll beat those retail prices.
