Previous owner of my bike dropped it twice, but I figured out what he was doing wrong. Unlike most cruisers, our bikes kickstand rests somewhat perpendicular to the frame, as opposed to angled forward. Hence, why he dropped it twice, and I got the bike for a steal. Since then, I simply rock the bike back just a bit to make sure the stand is angled forward as it holds the bike up. Makes a big difference on stability. Only reason I can think of why Buell did this is if you look at most cruiser kick stands, they have a larger flat area or something designed into them that kicks them backwards if you forget to pull it up while moving. Our bikes down have that, so when you just leave them down, they naturally spring back just a bit in case you too forgot to pull it up. This way if it does hit, it simply comes back rather than becomes a pole vault.

So, again, make sure you're rocking your bikes back a bit when you put them on the side stand to make sure the stand is full forward and properly supporting the bike. First learned this lesson on my trainer bike, which was lowered and also had a neutral falling stand.

i was told that you can no longer get the pivot bolt and that i would have to buy a upgrade kick stand kit
but mine still has the grade 8 bolt in it and it seams to work fine
