jeep,
HD doesnt warranty belts bc u can have a new one put in and catch a rock first thing to have it rip again. they are good for a 100k from what im told.
So in my expert opinion, I would suggest just go by sight, if it looks good then ur good.
Good info, I have 15k on my 03 XB9R which is the suggested mileage for a belt change. Is it worth doing now or wait till it breaks? The belt still looks good to me but is is worth chancing?

Jeep. I looked at my belt frequently, and never saw any signs that led me to believe it was going to snap. I think 15k is pretty low, but then again, mine was just under 25k when it snapped. What sucks, is when it does go, you are stranded. I happened to be about a half mile from home, so I pushed it home, but if you are not close to home, you're going to have to have it picked up. I had to order a belt from my local HD dealer, which put me out of commission until it comes in. In the future, I plan on buying a backup belt before this one goes as well. Sucks not being able to ride.
Well, I think I will just run with mine till I have a reason to change it. I am picking up a brand new belt from someone for $50 so I will have a spare if I need it. I am not too worried about the Buell being out of commission because I still have my Harley to ride
50 bucks is cheap I paid 190 for the Xb belt last week.
Belt was 2 years old with about 15,000 on it always had belt guards
Separated and three teeth where hanging off it. Luckily I seen it just as we where headed for. 4 hour ride. I have the original gates belt but it is in Michigan and we are in nc ATM go figure lol
Buelljek. The newer (07+) belts are those nifty "lifetime" belts. 03 belts are only good for about 15000 give or take. Then in 04 they changed and then again in 07.
RT you don't remove your rear wheel?!?
Thats what I thought, its worth it to keep as a spare and if mine gets crappy looking I can just change it.50 bucks is cheap I paid 190 for the Xb belt last week
Will the 07 belt fit on my 05, or is there a difference?
No he didnt. Didnt even have to loosen the axel bolt. he said you just have to be really careful feeding on the rear pully. Kinda like when ur rolling the chain back on your bicycle when it falls off.RT you don't remove your rear wheel?!?
I dunno. Id be a little sketch about it.
Djeans. Yes it will fit. The only difference is the 03s 04-09 (ithink) are all the same.
