check the start switch contacts in the switch
So I started my bike up about 5-6 days ago, no problems, i installed some new mirrors and brake lever and I go to try and start it, nothing. Its getting power to all fuses, tach lights up as it should, fuel pump does its deed, press the start button and nothing. I tried swapping around relays, checked fuses, battery is only a couple of months old. Cables are tight all grounds look okay.
specs-2005 buell xb 12scg thanks
check the start switch contacts in the switch
Ok ill try that, I was thinking it could be the starter or its solenoid, but ill pull the switch apart first
sorry i thought you had checked the starter.run a jumper wire from batt pos to the small terminal on the solenoid to check starter
check the grounds. The wires that connect to the side rails under the seat. Mine wouldnt start one time and that was why. They need to be pretty tight.
And the starter is on the side with the belt correct?
yesAnd the starter is on the side with the belt correct
Ok so i ran the jumper wire from the pos term to the solenoid and still got no response from the switch, checked battery voltage again for safe measures and it was at 12.52 volts. So i decided to go ahead and take the switch apart and sure enough the contacts looked dirty. Cleaned as needed and it fired right up,
thanks for all the info electrical isnt my strong point
Also I'll add that summer time is when a bat actually needs to be tendered the most.
Not sure where the OP is at for climate sake but warm temps kill a battery quicker, but normally we are riding our bikes when the temp gos up so they get normal exercising.
If I know my bike is going to sit for more than a day or 2 I plug it in.
With a smart tender, its better to be safe than sry.
