The race ecm will do nothing for you without the need for it. If you want more power free up the horsepower lost in the stock exhaust, air cleaner / air box and then feed the mod with the appropriate fuel map with an ecm re-map or race ecm.

I gained 20 HP and shaved 25 pounds off my bike by going to a Jardine titanium pipe and a k&n filter and I feed the need with a race ecm.

compare your engines ve to that of a race/stock engine. chose the ecm that matches better. adjust diffs using software of your choice.

No pipe/air cleaner combo is going to add 20hp. The 25 lb. weight savings is wildly exaggerated too. I would think 3 to 5 hp gain and about 10lb weight loss. More hp and less lbs is always a good thing anyways!

Can't the pre '08 stock ecms be flashed with the race maps pretty easily?

If the bike is stock, the race ecm won't do much. But if you change out your exhaust and airbox then it can't hurt. Also check the sponsor link for the Tuniversity on the right side. He can set you up with a premade map, or custom make you one f you'd prefer.

The race map helped me alot i have a custom pipe I made and open air box with k and n also came help tons. My bike was dumped at 129.44 wheel horse and 141.2 ftlb of tourqe. Lost some top end speed though only does 145 due to loss of backpressure with pipe. Big difference though
